Admissions
We accept registration throughout the year. Most of the vacancies occur at the end of August when our kindergarten-bound children leave. We begin confirming spaces in the late spring and early summer. If a child leaves during the year, we fill the vacancy from the waiting list.

Chapel Hill Day Care Center is open from 7:30am to 5:45pm Monday through Friday. The program is open to children from 6 weeks of age through five years of age. The enrollment procedures and admission requirements are as follows:

  • Parents wishing to enroll the child should fill out an registration. A $50.00 registration fee should be attached to the registration.
  • Parents can talk to the director concerning their child’s needs and find out about our child care program either on the phone or they make an appointment to come to the center. An appointment is only necessary to ensure that the director will be available to spend some time with the parents.
  • The registration is kept on file until an opening occurs. registrations are prioritized by current center needs. We try to maintain a racial, economical, and gender balance in our classrooms and children on the waiting lists are admitted accordingly. Children of staff members and children who have a sibling in the center are always given first priority.
  • If a space is offered and the parent/guardian chooses to decline the space, but wishes to keep the child’s registration on file, the registration date will be changed to the date the space was declined. In other words, the registration will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list.
  • Once a child is offered a place in the center, we ask that the parent visit in order to observe the center in action. The director will be available to answer any questions.
  • If the parents decide to enroll their child, a non-refundable, one month’s tuition deposit, must be paid to hold their child’s place.

If the parents are offered an opening and decide to enroll their child, one month’s tuition is due when you confirm the spot. This money is a non-refundable deposit to hold the child’s space. If the parents are confirming a space for the fall of the following year, the deposit is used as tuition for the last month of the first year’s enrollment.
